Potions Rework
A downloadable mod
Last updated August 16th, 2023
Update 8/16/23
- Added Polish translation by Aarathiel for Toggle Immortal Glow
Update 1/17/23
- Fixed an issue that would prevent players from buying more than one object at a time at magical stores
Update 10/22/22
- Added "No Immortal Glow" mini-mod to this collection (no content changes)
This mod includes a series of changes in order to rework several aspects of Spellcaster potions in Realm of Magic, particularly the recipes to make them. This makes potion brewing more challenging and entertaining, as well as gives your Sims an actual reason to develop a magical garden, explore the world, develop several skills, pick up certain perks, and upkeep their house.
Features
Recipe Overhaul
Drastically changes the recipes for all potions; all potions now require at least three different items and higher level potions require rarer materials. Certain high level potions also require materials only found in Granite Falls or Selvadorada so your Sims will need to travel to find them.
Additionally, appropriate sale prices have been added to all potions so that they can be sold in retail stores or from the personal inventory. The prices are based on the ingredients used and the Spellcaster level required to make the potion. Gathering the ingredients will net your Sim a healthy profit, but buying them from stores might not always been a sound business decision.
See the table below for a list of all the new recipes and their sale prices.
Recipe Overhaul (RoM Only)
Same as the above, but suited for players without the Outdoor Retreat and/or Jungle Adventure game packs who still want the rest of the recipe overhaul.
Potion Shop Addon
Adds most new ingredients to the potion ingredient shops in Caster's Alley and increases the number of items available each day. Rarer items have less chance to appear, and particularly rare items needed for master level potions will still not appear.
No Overpowered Free Samples
Master level recipes no longer give out free samples when your Sims learn the recipe. (Because honestly who needs more than one Immortality potion?)
Plentiful Needs Nerf
The Potion of Plentiful Needs now only solves physical needs (ie. Hunger, Energy, Vampire Thirst, etc). Sims will now need to solve their Fun, Social, and Hygiene needs and can't simply chug potions all day.
No Immortal Glow
Two alternate mods that reduce the glow effect from the Immortality potion.
(Only use one version at a time)
- No Immortal Glow
- Removes the infinite bright glow effect around Sims' heads when they have the Immortal trait. Sims who already have the effect active should see it disappear within an hour of in-game time.
- Toggle Immortal Glow
- Adds a self interaction on Sims which allows you to toggle the infinite bright glow effect around Sims' heads when they have the Immortal trait.

Conflicts and Requirements
This mod requires The Sims 4 and the Realm of Magic game pack first and foremost, and the Outdoor Retreat and Jungle Adventure game packs in order to collect all the ingredients. If you do not have the last two packs, the RoM only version will work for you.
This mod will conflict with icemunmun's Cauldron Potions Cost Money mod, Srsly's Complete Alchemy Overhaul, and any other mod which edits the potion recipes.

When update? Don't work with lovestruck good, break clock :(
i get balancing but oh yes. everybody needs a mod for an annoying underdeveloped section of the game to be even more annoying
May I have some help? I have "[Kuttoe] PotionRework - NoOPFreeSamples.package" installed and I still received a free sample. I had my sim go to Sage of Practical Magic, who was randomly generated because the original died, to ask for a potion recipe and that's when I got the free sample. I wonder if it's because the package file also needs a script?
The mod only removes the free samples from Master level potions (immortality, death proof, and love). Other potions are unaffected. There is no script for this mod.
Damn. Ok, thank you!
I see the zip folder comes with a few package files. Does this mean I can use a combination of them or do I have to install all of them? Just asking for future users.

I just noticed "Download only one version."
Does this work with latest Dec patch?
Yes, all of my mods appear to be working fine with the current patch.
I'm glad I updated your potion.
